“In class, be aware of what’s going on in your mind, body, and your heart.  Allow yourself to be free of judgment, expectation, and just pay attention. Give yourself freedom to be authentic in this time you’ve given yourself.” – Lisa Cook

Lisa Cook, a Carson City native, has been teaching in the Carson area since 2010. Like many teachers in Carson City she first started teaching at the Luv n’ Light studio after completing her 200 hour teacher training at Yoga Loka with Kimberly Orenstein in 2011. In 2012 she was invited by Jenn Andrews to teach at Yoga Sol, now Carson City Yoga, and has called this space her home ever since. Over the years Lisa has taught a variety of different styles of yoga ranging from vinyasa to restorative, but no matter what type of  class they all have an underlying theme: to simply show up on your mat exactly as you are, free of judgement and expectation.

In her professional world off the mat, Lisa has been working in alternative health and wellness since 2004. After a brief stint in the restaurant industry, where she was one of the first in the area to offer organic food options, she went on to work at DuBois Health Food store. While working at DuBois she met the owners of Well Being Journal, a national health and wellness publication, and she went on to have a successful six year career as their print and digital media manager. Currently Lisa is obtaining her credentials to become a holistic health coach and will soon be offering health coaching services through Change of Heart Health, Carson City’s first functional medicine practice, specializing in prevention and reversal of heart disease.
